In today’s NFL, many teams seem to be a running back by committee franchise. But, years ago, running backs were workhorses that were involved in every snap. Here are the top-3 of all-time.

3 – Emmitt Smith

Emmitt Smith was a major winner when he was in Dallas. With the Cowboys, he won 3 Super Bowls and was named MVP for one of the championships. Smith went to the Pro Bowl 8 times and is the career rushing yards leader in NFL history with 18,355.

2 – Walter Payton

Walter Payton was one of the most talented running backs to ever take the first. He won league MVP one time and a Super Bowl championship as well. For his career, Payton rushed for 110 touchdowns.

1 – Jim Brown

Jim Brown was a beast in the 1950s and 1960s. Over his career with the Cleveland Browns, he was 3 NFL MVPs and one NFL championship. For 8 seasons, Brown leads the league in rushing and finished with 12,313 rushing yards.
