Best NBA Centers of All-Time

By Shane R

So, you want to know what the Mount Rushmore of NBA Centers is? Can you guess who they are? Think three Lakers players, and a Celtics rebounding fiend. Apologies to Olajuwon, Robinson, and Ewing.

4 – Bill Russell

Russell is the most winning center on this entire list. He won 11 championships starting from 1957 to 1969. He may be underrated as a scorer, but Russell was the most fearsome rebounder of any generation.

3 – Wilt Chamberlain

Even though Chamberlain only won 2 championships during his time, he is considered one of the most offensively dominating players of all-time. The man had a 100 point scoring game. Chamberlain also holds career stats of 30.1 points per game (ppg) and 22.9 rebounds per game (rpg).

2 – Shaquille O’Neal

Since we are talking about dominating players, enter Shaq to the mix. The center won 4 championships over his career and was named an all-star 15 times. Shaq was even the Rookie of the Year in 1992-1993.

1 – Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

The best center of all-time has to go to the NBA’s all-time leading scorer: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The man won the most MVPs of any center ever and averaged 2.6 blocks per game (bpg) during his career. No one may ever be able to score as many points as the man with the stellar skyhook.
