Over the last 20 years, there have been some disappointing sports teams. With so many sports memories to choose from, it was hard to gather them all. But, here are three teams we can all agree on.

#3 – Los Angeles Lakers (2003-2004)

For the 2003-2004 NBA season, the Los Angeles Lakers were dubbed the champions before the season began. With peak play from Kobe Bryant and Shaq, and the additions of title hungry veterans like Karl Malone and Gary Payton, this team looked bound for success. However, Karl Malone got injured during the season, and rifts between Kobe, Shaq, and Malone led to the team losing in the finals to the well-rounded Detroit Pistons. The team was blown up after the season, and many still wonder what could have been.

#2 – Philadelphia Eagles (2011)

With quality off-season additions like cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, and mainstays like Michael Vick, DeSean Jackson, and LeSean McCoy, many people thought this team would go the distance. However, at one point in the season, the Eagles fell to 4-8. They did win 4 straight to finish off the season, but they failed to make the playoffs.

#1 – U.S. Men’s Olympic Basketball Team (2004)

One of the most disappointing sports stories was the U.S. Men’s Olympic Basketball Team. They only won the bronze medal in the Greece Olympics. Most would be ecstatic to win a medal, but the U.S. team had been dominating the sport for the last two decades. This was a wake up called to the U.S.A. with the fact that international play was getting better and more strategic than ever before.
