Bam Adebayo Gets Paid
The Miami Heat and Bam Adebayo have agreed to a 5-year contract that could be worth $195 million. For the Miami Heat, this will be the richest deal in franchise history, even superseding Jimmy Butler’s deal of $141 million last season. This extension will be quite the jump from his rookie contract, where Bam made $5.1 million last season.
Starting in the 2021-2022 season, Bam will start making around $28 million. If Bam gets chosen for an All-NBA team over the next five years, he will be able to get up to the $195 million mark. For Bam, he is excited for the challenge, and believes he has it in him to earn his keep. The Miami Heat did have until December 21st to make a decision with Bam, or they would have had to wait until next summer to talk shop.
Bam Adebayo has made some serious leaps over the last few seasons to earn such a gigantic contract. In the 2020 season, Bam was an All-Star selection and participated in the skill competition, winning the event. Last year, Bam excelled by scoring 15.2 points, rebounding 10 times a game, and dishing out 5 assists per game. Only one other person averaged this, and it was Most Valuable Player Giannis Anteokounmpo. You can imagine what the Miami Heat think they have in Bam Adebayo.
An outspoken Bam has shared that he wants to take care of his mom, who raised him on $15,000 a year. Bam will surely be able to help his mother out a lot now. Be ready to see more of Adebayo next season, as the Heat look to return to the NBA Finals.
