Greatest Female Football Players of All Time

Female football has developed over the years after it came into existence in 1895. As the game progressed, several truly exceptional names have graced the game, and we have compiled a list of some of the best of them:

Martha (Brazil):

She is arguably the best female player to kick a football, and many have named her the female “pele.” She holds several records, including the first person to score 17 goals in the World Cup, and she has won six World Player of the Year Awards.  In her career, she had 115 appearances for Brazil and scored an impressive 106 goals.

Mia Hamm

Hamm was arguably the poster woman for football and sports in general in the 1990s. She won an Olympic Gold Medal and Two World Cups and became the first person to win the Women World Player of the Year in 2001. She was also for a time the leading goal scorer in International history before Wambach broke her record. She also has the highest assists record for the United States with 144.

Birgit Prinz

She is arguably the most outstanding female European player ever. She currently holds the position as the second-highest goal scorer in the world cup. She also won the player of the year award three times consecutively from 2003-2005 and the World Cup twice.

Prinz is not a stranger to being a champion with 5 Bundesliga titles, 5 UEFA European Championships, and three UEFA Cups.

Other notable names include Carl Lloyd, Michelle Akers, Sun Wen, and Nadine Angerer.
