Stellar storylines and unique characters characterized World Wrestling Entertainment during the 1980s. Wrestling fans were fascinated by the impressive physiques and builds of the humans who make magic happen in the ring. From entrances to the ring to their fighting and finishing techniques, fans were entertained to the fullest.

During those days, the wrestling world sang the praises of a certain maniacal hulk, but then there was a certain Andre, the Giant who won the hearts of wrestling lovers.

Andre the Giant was a popular figure among wrestling followers or those who were not the sport’s biggest fans. This Giant stood at 7ft 4in tall and weighed over 500 pounds. He was a major reason why many wrestling followers were attracted to the entertainment sport back in the day.

Although the big Frenchman’s reign as WWE champion lasted for only one day, Andre, in the real sense of it, does not need any titles to prove he was the real deal. He was rock solid in the ring and stood out among his contemporaries for a man of his size, strength, and agility.

Non-wrestling fans got attracted to this amazing fighter when he featured very well in the 1987 film The Princess Bride, playing the role of the gentle giant Fezzik.

Off the ring, Andre the Giant hated things that most would consider silly. The younger brother of “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Lanny Poffo, recalled that the giant man absolutely despised baby oil and would never wear it. Who would’ve thought that a giant man would hate such a random thing?
